The d4, DEW’s first folding knife, was designed by Mr. Hara.
It features a new locking mechanism called the “Double Detent Lock.”
This is a completely new locking mechanism where, when the knife is folded or opened, ball bearings on both sides of the liner drop into small holes in the blade to apply tension.
Since it is not a complicated or cumbersome locking mechanism, it allows for simple and effortless one-handed opening and closing.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese folding knife, the Higo-no-kami, the blade features a thumb stud. This allows for one-handed opening and also acts as a safety lock when pressed with the thumb during use.
